Antique French Box
This is a beautiful vintage French box with velvet and tooled leather. The casket box is made from cardboard and covered in velvet fabric (most of the velvet has worn away to leave just the fabric) and bands of tooled leather . The ends have two brass handles and brass corner guards on the base. There is a front brass clasp. Inside is one compartment lined in cream satin and is cushioned. Inside the lid is also lined in cream satin. The base is wood and is lined in black paper. This was most likely a box for gloves.
In fair antique condition for its age, most of the velvet has worn away and there are some knocks to the cardboard. This all adds to its rustic elegant charm. Please see images.
